Azores Summer Programme 2026

The Portuguese Cultural Association of Bermuda (PCA) is delighted to support up to two residents of Bermuda of Azorean descent to take part in the FLAD Summer Program – Azores, an international academic and cultural summer programme led by the Luso-American Development Foundation (FLAD) in partnership with the University of the Azores (UAc) and the Regional Government of the Azores.

This fully funded opportunity will take place July 1–17, 2026, on the islands of São Miguel and Terceira. It offers students aged 18–25 an immersive academic experience that combines university-level learning with cultural exploration in one of Portugal’s most unique regions.

Academic and Cultural Experience

The programme is taught in English and integrates:

  • Theoretical and practical academic sessions
  • Cultural programming and study visits
  • Interaction with international peers

It is structured around five thematic areas:

  • Natural History
  • Settlement and Cultural Heritage
  • Political and Administrative Organization
  • Economic Activity
  • Environmental Governance

The initiative involves all four faculties of the University of the Azores and leads to 6 ECTS credits (equivalent to 3 U.S. credits) and a bilingual certificate of completion.

Funding and Support
